Slow-Cooker Hot Chocolate

Clean eaters, look away now!!

I love my slow cooker. I also love hot chocolate, so when I came across this recipe on Ashlie's blog I knew I had to try it.

I had friends round one night last week and saw it as the perfect opportunity to put this sugar-laden concoction to the test. Needless to say we weren't disappointed! The recipe was perfect - rich, luxurious and bursting with flavour - hands down the best hot chocolate I've ever had.

You will need:
  • 90g of of drinking chocolate (I used Cadbury's)
  • 2 pints of whole milk
  • 150ml of single pouring cream
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of Cadbury's Smooth Chocolate Spread (the original recipe calls for Nutella, but this is all I had in my cupboard. I'm guessing any chocolate spread will do!)
  • Toppings of your choice
My slow cooker is only a little compact one, so feel free to double the recipe if yours is larger!

Directions:
  • Place all your ingredients into your slow cooker. Whisk until smooth
  • Cook on low for two hours
  • Stir, then serve and add your toppings
  • Demolish!

I left the chocolate bubbling away and just let my guests help themselves. If a film forms on top of the mixture, just give it another quick stir and you're good to go!

I usually get all virtuous and garnish my hot chocolate with a cinnamon stick and a spring of peppermint. Not this time my friends. I went in with whipped cream, mini marshmallows and chocolate chips, all topped off with a Flake for a deliciously calorific treat. Sorry not sorry. x
